The Tettenhall District Community Trust (TDCT) has proposed several alternatives to the Wolverhampton City Council's A41 traffic proposals. Here are some key suggestions from their Rock Junction Action Plan:
1. Three-Way Traffic Lights: Instead of the proposed one-way system, TDCT suggests installing three-way traffic lights to improve safety and traffic flow.
2. Enhanced Pedestrian Safety: Implementing measures to ensure pedestrian safety, such as better crossings, pedestrian access to Smestow Valley and pedestrian signals.
3. Community Engagement: Ensuring ongoing consultation and engagement with residents to address their concerns and incorporate their feedback into the planning process.
4. Environmental Considerations: Incorporating environmentally friendly solutions to reduce the impact on the local environment.
5. Following best practice international safety and pollution research to safeguard residents in the local area from dangers due to traffic diversions in one way streets and from excessive pollution in narrow tree lined streets.
6. Engineering works to widen lane widths allowing traffic queues, right hand turns and the collection of Civil Infrastructure Levy from other councils which cause congestion and which Wolverhampton Council ignores.
These suggestions aim to create a safer and more efficient traffic system while addressing the community's concerns and preserving the character of the area.
The members of Tettenhall District Community Trust held their 1st AGM on Thu 30/Jan 18:30 at South Staffs Golf Club, Tettenhall.
