️ Discover the Warrior Queen Who Shaped England’s Destiny
Join Wolverhampton-based historian David Guest on a compelling journey into the life and legacy of Aethelflaed and the Battle of Tettenhall/Wednesfield. With passionate insight and bold clarity, David brings to life the forgotten turning point in England’s formation—when Aethelflaed, daughter of Alfred the Great, led her people to roll back the Danelaw and secure a future for a united kingdom.
This locally rooted booklet reclaims a vital chapter of our shared past, challenging long-held myths and spotlighting a heroine too often written out of history. Thoughtfully researched and engagingly written, it’s a must-read for anyone curious about where England truly began—and why Aethelflaed deserves recognition as the real “Mother of England.”
Available now—because it’s time her story was finally told.

About Rachel Arnold – Artist, Activist & Storyteller. Rachel Arnold is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice blends poetry, performance, craft and community engagement. With over three decades of creative experience, her work champions social justice, historical storytelling, and inclusive dialogue. Most recently, Rachel has led participatory art and heritage workshops exploring the legacy of Lady Aethelflaed and the pivotal Battle of 910 AD. Through hands-on crafts, poetry walks, exhibitions and interactive events across Wolverhampton, she has invited diverse voices to respond artistically to Anglo-Saxon artefacts, develop sculptural prototypes, and celebrate peace weaving traditions. Her creative leadership has sparked renewed public interest in Wolverhampton’s origins, culminating in a proposed art trail uniting Wednesfield and Tettenhall. Rachel’s prints, mixed media pieces and symbolic textile works reflect a commitment to place, storytelling and healing
